NaNoWriMo - A Living, Breathing Disaster

A living, breathing disaster, that's exactly what this year's NaNoWriMo has become. I haven't given up, as much as I want to toss in the towel, I won't. It's not over until this plump lady sings my friends.

So I continue to give this NaNo CPR in the hope that I can restart its sputtering heart. The poor thing collapsed about day ten and decided it didn't want to be on this earth any longer.

I had a plan, I had a plot, and I was writing. Words, while not very good ones, were being tapped out with my little fingers. Then it all went to shit.

I know what the problem is. ME. My headspace. I also think something is wrong with my plot, but that's a side point. So after two days of beating my head against the laptop, I got a surprise in the mail.

Rejection.

Maybe it's because I'm not published, but I can't just suck it the fuck up and continue on as if it never happened. No, I put hard work and heart into that submission, so excuse me while I take a couple of days to get over it.

That led me into reading for a couple of days to just get the fuck away from my head space because I'm the kind of person that starts to question everything at that point. I know, there's a million reasons I could've been rejected, I'm aware. That doesn't change the fact that I want to improve. So I start to question, I want to touch and fondle the submission. <Maybe I should add fondling to the story...>

At this point the fondling must remain an unsatisfied ache. The reading helped. On recommendation from a friend, I picked up a witty book that kept me laughing from beginning to end. Which inspired me to play with a story I've had rattling around in my skull for a little bit.

It's a complete change from Urban Fantasy, polar opposite actually. However it's keeping me engaged at this point. The words are coming slowly which means I'm still in this fucked up game.

I might only have ten days left of the month, and NaNoWriMo may take me down, but I'll be beating at it with a pipe the entire way.
